The Rural Virginia Provider Recruitment program was created in July 2013 by the Southwest Virginia GMEC-AHEC. GMEC (the Graduate Medical Education Consortium) and AHEC (Area Health Education Center) are sister organizations that identify, track and address primary care workforce shortages in rural Southwest Virginia. RVPR is a nonprofit recruitment program that helps communities recruit and retain dedicated and qualified healthcare providers who are committed to practicing in rural medically underserved areas.
